Having talked to Elite Signs and Graphics for this month’s Ahead of the Curve (page 58) I started to think about all the families out there who share a talent or who pass down a business to each other, generation after generation.
Weathering the howling storm
I sit writing my editor’s note a few days after what will no doubt go down in history as a defining moment for our little, but great, island. To be honest I am a very sad, not necessarily for the decision that was taken, but for how we as a nation have dealt with first its making, and then its fallout.
So as I write this I am sitting at Drupa surrounded by all the whirring machinery and fantastic technological innovation that is this global print mecca. My first port of call on day one was the EFI press conference, which was absolutely packed with media waiting to find out how the firm will set out its stall for the future.
“May you live in interesting times.” This is ancient Chinese curse is a very apt one for the age we live in, as no sooner have you got to grips with one set of technologies and the business models they spawn, then another young upstart fashion comes along to sweep away all in its path.
