W and Co swims into Switzerland
Sign-makers are often tasked with unusual commissions that challenge their capabilities, but W and Co has seen one of its most unusual yet.

The Swiss Lachs – Pure Alpine Salmon Farm now has suitably impressive halo-illuminated signage reflective of its beautiful surroundings
The firm was tasked with designing, creating, and installing super-sized halo illuminated sign letters on a 40m wooden clad farm building, in the heart of the Swiss Alps, for a salmon fishery that can boast it is one of the cleanest and most sustainable in the world.
The commission highlights just how advanced illuminated sign technology has become, allowing for totally unique designs that really create an impressive visual spectacle.

Swiss Alpine Fish AG breeds fish in Lostallo, a beautiful and untouched corner in Misox, the Italian-speaking part of Graubünden, Switzerland. Founded in 2014, its recirculating aquaculture system is what has put Swiss Alpine Fish AG at the pinnacle of the fisheries industry.
W and Co supplied individual letters are up to 1,500mm in height, while their central salmon logo design was built to a massive 3,000mm to ensure maximum visibility of their complex from the main road.

In addition to the main building sign letters, W and Co supplied the farm with a series of wayfinding posts and panel signs adorned with their salmon logo, and some matching lettering for their small shop that sits next to the main farm unit. It is also currently in the process of supplying some extra sign elements for the charming shop to show when they are open for business.
The project has made such an impact that it was shortlisted for the BSGA Sign Awards 2017 in the category of “Illuminated Sign of the Year”, only narrowly missing out on the top gong.
