PressOn wraps world’s fastest car

In news that will turn vehicle wrappers across the UK sign industry green with envy, Kent-based PressOn has revealed its part in the promotional launch of the world’s fastest car

“To be asked to be involved in the world debut of Bloodhound SSC was an incredible honour," says the firm’s managing director Nigel Webster.

"The wrap itself was a straightforward job, but the opportunity to work with the collaborators on the project is an unforgettable experience. It’s definitely one of PressOn’s highlights.”

The car was designed to break the world land speed record by reaching speeds in excess of 1,000mph and has been under development for eight years.

The previous record sits at 763mph, and was set by Royal Air Force fighter jet pilot Andy Green in Thrust SSC.

Green is also the pilot for this new speed beast, and was set to make the world record attempt on October 15th in Haskeen Pan, South Africa at the time of going to press.

The 13.5m long vehicle has appropriately cost £13.5m to build at Bloodhound’s Technical Centre in the heart of Bristol, which is fittingly opposite the home of the SS Great Britain—the world’s first steam powered ocean-going ship.

With PressOn having painstakingly completed the livery for the vehicle, it joins more than 350 companies and universities that have collaborated over the project.

The most difficult part of the job was the wrap on the 2m-high tail fin, which helps to provide stability to the 135,000 thrust horse power super-machine.
