The news that motorists who were caught speeding on the M42 may have
their convictions for speeding quashed due to some potentially shoddy
signage, should serve as a warning to everyone in the industry.
Make sure you stick to the brief or it can have big consequences.
The main problem with the signage on the M42 as the numbers were too
tall and narrow to comply with motorway regulations, and were thus
unenforcable. This could lead to 11,000 speeding convictions being
quashed.
However, for those of you thinking it was okay to speed up to Sign and Digital UK at the NEC, think again.
The Department for Transport, has now authorised the signs for usage and they are now legal.
The point is, if the brief tells you to do something, you must make sure you do.
Any deviation could lead to non-payment of work, no repeat business and falling fould of health and safety legislation.
