The new Jeti Tauro, pictured above, and the Jeti Mira were unveiled at the Sign Expo in Las Vegas
The Jeti Tauro and the Jeti Mira, unveiled during a recent press
conference, are designed for the high-end wide-format sign and display
printing market.
"We promised a series of new state-of-the-art products in the course of
2015 and we are happy to deliver," says Dominiek Arnout, vice president
of inkjet at Agfa Graphics. He adds: "We truly believe the market will
embrace these two new systems that make ultimate use of our dedicated
ink technology and our tailored sign and display workflow. Our Matched
Component Approach guarantees that every component yields the best
possible result."
The Jeti Tauro is a hybrid UV inkjet system measuring 2.5m, with 32
printheads for six colours. The new model also offers optional semi or
full media load/unload automation, and is created for high productivity
printing, both for rigid and flexible materials.
The Jeti Mira is a flatbed, available in two table versions: 2.7 x 1.6m
and 2.7 x 3.2m. Both versions boast moving gantries, Print and Prepare
mode, and a new ink temperature control. There is now added feature
integration in the wide-format workflow Asanti 2.0, and a split vacuum
table with six vacuum zones to cut down on vacuum masking.

As well as these models, Agfa revealed its new UV inks designed for
improved flexibility and able to withstand tough outdoor conditions,
particularly resistant to colour fading. The inks are compatible with
all Agfa inkjet printers. Both the Tauro and the Mira use ‘thin ink
layer’ technology, allowing Agfa’s UV-curable inks to print with ‘the
lowest ink consumption per sqm in the industry’.
The new Asanti 2.0 comes with updates such as the option to print white
on transparent substrates, and includes comprehensive integration of
file handling, colour management, and preflighting, all of which help
reduce the risk of error and boosting the system’s productivity.
Going forward, Agfa has pledged to continue investing in the sign and
display industry, making a commitment to manufacture professional and
comprehensive system solutions for each major segment of the UV market.
It promises to build on its proven track record in prepress and inkjet,
and its end-to-end control over its system components.
It has also revealed there will be more new products launched before year end, and that LED curing is firmly on the agenda.
The European debut for the Jeti Tauro and Jeti Mira will be at FESPA
2015, displaying alongside the Anapurna M3200i, first seen at Sign and
Digital UK last month, as well as new automation options for the
Anapurna M2500i.
