New tools of the trade from Zund
In order to meet demand for quality and productivity, Zund, which specialises in developing and manufacturing digital cutting systems, has expanded its range of tools with the latest multipurpose and ACM (aluminium composite material) bits

Zund has designed a new range of ACM bits and multipurpose bits to create higher quality products
Processing ACM can be difficult for the cutter and the routing tool, as vertical forces generated during the routing lead to vibrations that can affect the material’s surface and edge quality.
To eliminate this problem, Zund has made changes to the bit geometry and created a new line of bits designed for ACM applications, which are available now.
“Well-designed cutting faces and polished cutting edges make it possible to process a wide range of different materials such as acrylic, expanded PVC, aluminium, and MDF, with the same bit,” explains Daniel Bischof, marketing and communication executive, Zund.
He adds: “The result is that the edge and surface quality will meet the highest of standards, making further polishing unnecessary as the bit creates edges that are so clean, they often look polished already.”

The new design is reported to extend the lifespan of the bits, increasing productivity due to higher feed rates.
The new ACM bits are also said to ensure there is no unwanted material left at the edges and that you are left with a ‘superior surface quality’.
Zund has also started to offer multi-purpose bits in conjunction with the automatic router bit changer ARC. Due to their popularity, Zund will be providing them soon without stop ring as well, making them available for use with manual (non-pneumatic) collets.
