As the cinematic world waits for the release of Mortdecai, the latest Johnny Depp movie this month, and Shaun the Sheep: The Movie in the spring, the sign-making world has already witnessed a string of film releases.

Film noir: Aslan’s BB910 black board film can be written on countless times
Orafol has launched a new flexible marking film for vehicles, perfect for wrapping specialists. It is actually an upgraded version of Orafol’s fluorescent lime and red chevron film. The microprismatic reflective material improves visibility and because of its flexible nature is easier to apply. It also does not need any edge sealing, and has been designed for use on slightly curved vehicle shapes.

Another piece of film news is that Amari Digital Supplies, which stocks MACtac self-coloured sign-making films, says some of the colours available are changing. The ones in question are mainly yellow, orange, red, green, grey, and metallic of the 9800, 8900, 8300, and 9700 Pro series of films. Plus the ones in the Sublime selection within the MACtac Tuning Film Series are also being adjusted. It is all due to a new European directive aimed at improving the safety of the chemicals involved in their manufacture. The firm says the changes will be barely noticeable to the ones they replace although the product codes will change but not the names of the film colours.

It is the firm behind Solar and Safety adhesive films with the Solar film ideal for car windows and also windows in general. APA says the window films protect exposed goods from premature ageing due to UV rays, as well as looking good. The window film is also available in a mirror version should you need added privacy. Above all the films improve safety as they prevent splintering if broken.
Finally Aslan has produced something of a film noir product with its blackboard film for chalk and liquid chalk. The BB 910 film looks like a traditional blackboard but can be written on over and over again, even with liquid chalk, and still keeps its flawless appearance, says the firm. It is resistant to scratching and so makes the ideal board for those daily specials chalked up by chefs at restaurants, pubs, and cafes.
