Vehicle wrapper pleads guilty of fraud
A Peterborough-based vehicle wrapper has been fined for infringing intellectual property rights up to 2,000 times.

The local newspaper The Peterborough Telegraph reported that Daral Brennan of Orton Malborne, used the logos of Apple, Nike, Hotpoint, and The Premier League when making stickers for his firm Mr Vinyl Car Graphics and Stickers.
Brennan appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court for sentence, after pleading guilty to six counts of selling goods bearing a sign identical to a registered trade mark.Trading Standards officers visited his factory workshop and the found a CD with 2,000 logos on it, including from Harrods, Red Bull F1, and London 2012 with logos and work on six different computers.

Brennan’s defence said it was his first offence and he used the ploy to attract more custom. Once challenged he took down the website with the offending logos.
The court considered a prison sentence but in view of the evidence they gave him a twelve month community order, with 18 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £500 court costs. Stickers seized by trading standards were ordered to be destroyed.
