The city became a centre for finishing the lace created by an army of mainly women who often worked from small workshops nearby. The final materials were traded in the Victorian lace market quarter of Nottingham. The network of streets and courts has been transformed into a shopping, leisure, and retail area where you will find Annie’s Burger Shack.

The upmarket American eatery has been given a rebranding by graphic designers Studio Deathray, and some stylish new signs from Allen Signs of Nottingham. Studio Deathray’s Matt Clixby, who was in charge of the rebrand approached Allen Signs following the opening of its Nottingham office in May 2013. As well as creating the illuminated external signage, Allen Signs also produced internal signs, vinyl artwork, and printed wallpaper featuring a photo of Annie’s family and a forest scene.

“I was in search of a signage company and came across Allen Signs on Twitter, so it was perfect timing,” said Matt. “As a company Allen Signs has been fantastic to work with. The team grasped the vision Annie and I were trying to create and successfully met the brief.”

Annie’s Burger Shack was first established in 2009 in The Old Angel pub in Nottingham. Owing to its popularity the restaurant moved to bigger premises at The Navigation Inn and then into its own premises at 5 Broadway in Nottingham’s Lace Market on 10th January 2014.
