The Innovation Research Lab, which will focus on ink technology R&D, has been created together with For.Tex, while The Printing Research Centre will run in collaboration with F.lli Robustelli and aid the future development of Epson inkjet core technology dedicated to textile printing.

Both new facilities will support the manufacturer’s established Textile Solution Centre in Como, Italy, with the joint goal of creating a global hub for the digital textile printing industry.

Confirmation of the opening of the new facilities comes at a time when the digital textile print sector is booming in markets around the world.

According to Provost Ink Jet consulting, in 2014, approximately 31 billion sq m of fabric was printed worldwide, with between two and three percent produced using digital technologies.

WtiN Intelligence anticipates the digital textiles market to increase by around 17 percent year-on-year until 2019.
