Ice Queen greets London diners

She is the beautiful if enigmatic Ice Queen of the Ice Bar in London and her image was printed using a Jetrix KX7 onto acrylic to greet diners in sub-zero temperatures

A fascinating video reveals how Willow Graphics–the large format printing company of the City Docs group–created the icy graphic for the swanky restaurant.

Designed by Simon Fowler the image of the sensual if frosty femme was printed directly onto 3mm cast acrylic using multiple layers of white ink and varnish to seal in the graphic and protect it against the ice in the freezing display along with her image printed directly onto ice.

The firms have also produced an array of similar projects for major brands such as Red Bull.

The image is titled The Ice Queen and was created by designer, artist and photographer Simon Fowler. The last sequence of the video shows the ice installed at Ice Bar London.”

The venue describes itself as a cold sensory experience where the walls, bar, tables and glasses are made from water from the Torne River in Northern Sweden. As part of the job the London graphics firm also printed menus for the night spot capable of resisting temperatures of -5C all year round in the unique arctic circle bar.
