Exeter Signs races ahead with rally cross wrap

A flexible business model has paid dividends for Exeter Signs, with the firm becoming the go-to vehicle wrappers for rally cross team, LD Motorsports

The Devon-based company has applied the graphics to a number of cars that participate in competitions throughout the UK and Europe, as well as global races such as the X Games. A key factor in Exeter Signs securing the commissions comes from its ability to respond to extremely tight deadlines, as co-owner Rob Ledger explains:

“The first car we wrapped was a Citroen DS3 for Liam Doran, the owner of LD Motorsports. It came from a phone call out of the blue asking if we could wrap a Citroen the following day. They very cagey about what the details, and just wanted to know if I could do it or not; they needed it done by the next day.

“I made a call to an old friend, Jon Rockall from Rocktec Customs, who came and helped with the first one that we completed. Because of our flexibility to work evenings and nights, and constantly deliver within the deadlines, we are lucky enough to have formed a solid relationship with LD Motorsports. Although stressful at times, we have such an enjoyable time and have grown more and more passionate about each car every time we wrap them.”




With the relationship between the organisations going from strength-to-strength, Exeter Signs was given the opportunity to sponsor the main BRC rally car—a chance it jumped at. The firm uses wrapping material purchased from Yorkshire based-Greenstik Materials, who were also keen to be involved in the project, sponsoring the material in order to feature on the finished car wrap.

“It seems strange now to see the car on TV knowing it has our company name on it,” continues Ledger, adding: “We have a real sense of pride knowing what my father and I have achieved.”
