Nebula Creative selected SloanLED systems to create a music themed wall for the First Direct Arena
Nebula Creative designed and installed the lightboxes during the refurbishment of the music and entertainment venue’s VIP bar, showcasing 240 album covers of famous artists that have played at the venue. The bar has now been renamed the Black and White Lounge.
Tony Watson, director of sales, marketing, and PR at First Direct Arena and York Barbican, says: “We've installed significant branding throughout the arena and without a doubt the most effective piece is our light box from Nebula Creative utilising the SloanLED system from Applelec. The resulting installation is stunning and has transformed our most important space.”
High brightness illumination is achieved across a width of up to three

facing modules are required to provide light”
The installation features two large-format lightboxes that are illuminated by SloanLED PosterBox 3, standing at 3m in height. Using 90 modules, the entire system draws just over 1200W.
Andy Armitage, head of signage sales at Applelec, adds: “High brightness illumination is achieved across a width of up to three metres using the SloanLED PosterBOX 3 system, where just two rows of facing modules are required to provide light.
“In addition, the product significantly reduces the installation time required to populate a lightbox in comparison to the use of LED tape or ribbon. We’re delighted with the success of this project which showcases the impressive performance of the PosterBOX 3 system.”
